However, this morning, I went to turn on my computer and saw the "please power down and connect the pcie power cables" screen on my monitor oh no! Same message on the screen, and the motherboard is showing code b2. When I pull out the GPU entirely and plug my monitor into the motherboard, the system boots fine I'm using it now.
Interestingly enough, when I boot with the GPU in, the GPU's fans start spinning up no problem, which makes me believe that if it is a hardware issue, it's related to the actual PCIE connector on the card.
I theorized it might be the pcie slot, but when it didn't work in the other which was unused until nowI kinda discounted that. I've read in a few places that error code b2 can sometimes be fixed by updating the BIOS. CAP, but I'm not sure what to do next, or if I missed a step. So, first off, thanks for reading this far. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone encounter this issue before? And most importantly, can anyone walk me through updating the BIOS? If there's any more info needed, let me know.

Please power down your pc and connect the pcie power cable
Previous Next Sort by votes. SeiferTim Reputable. Feb 26, 4 0 4, 0. I built a new computer with the help of a friend last night. Got everything installed and hooked up and powered on, installed Windows, installed Video card drivers, etc, etc, and everything seemed to be up and running and working.
Started installing some other software and after it had been working for a couple of hours, it just shut off. I waited a few minutes, powered it back on, and now I'm getting this message: "Please power down and connect the pcie power cables Double-checked all the connections, moved the graphics card to another slot, switched PCIe power cables, made sure all the connections were secure, and it won't do anything else.

Please fill out your system specs, it will help out a lot. Some manufacturers will include a 2x molex to 6 pin adapter, which might be just enough to get you up and running. I'm not entirely sure if the power supply is the one I specified but I heard from someone else that is the power supply the case comes with. I opened up the case and one of the 4 pin connector that was plugged into the adapter was lose. Judging by what you have said it sounds like your graphics card requires two pcie power connectors these can be 6 or 8 pin each, ensure you plug the appropriate cables into the slots. Anyway, so if I reset the cmos I should be able to plug into my monitor and everything should be fine? Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. Budget level or some entry-level mid-range graphics cards draw their power from the PCI Express x16 slot only but the higher-mid range and high-end graphics cards require external power from the PSU for their working. The external power for these powerful graphics cards comes from the 6-pin and 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors from the power supply. PCI Express x16 connector connects your graphics to the motherboard and is the only interface through which communication happens.
PLEASE POWER DOWN AND CONNECT THE PCIe POWER CABLE(S) FOR THIS GRAPHICS CARD
A PCI Express x16 slot can provide a maximum of 75 Watts to the graphics card which is enough for entry-level, low profile and budget graphics cards.
Even some mid-range graphics cards can also work on the power from the PCI Express x16 slot alone but higher mid-range graphics cards and high-end graphics card requires external power from the PSU through 6-pin and 8-pin power connectors.
Below you can see the PCI-Express x16 connector of the graphics card. A 6-pin power connector can supply 75 Watt to the graphics card. So if your graphics card power consumption is more than 75W then it will have one 6-pin PCI-E power connector for its working. A graphics card with one 6-pin power connector can have maximum power consumption of Watt as it will get 75W from the PCI Express x16 slot and 75W from the 6-pin connector. Most of the mid-range graphics cards from both Nvidia and AMD come with the 6-pin power connector.
The 8-pin power connector can deliver a maximum of W to your graphics card. So if your graphics card power consumption is more than W then it will definitely come with an 8-pin connector or two 6-pin connectors. A graphics card with one 8-pin power connector can get a maximum of W of power, 75W from PCI Express x16 slot and W from the 8-pin connector from the power supply.
The latest High-end graphics cards come with the 8-pin power connector and some of the power-hungry top-end graphics cards can have both 6-pin and 8-pin connectors or two 8-pin connectors. This card has a maximum power consumption of Watt. If your power supply does not have 6-pin or 8-pin connectors then you may try these 6-pin and 8-pin converters or power adapter cables to power your graphics card.
Some converters require two 4-pin Molex converter and some require one. You can check out the whole range from the link given below. If you are short on Molex connectors then you can use this converter cable or adapter. This power adapter cable uses two SATA connectors for one 8-pin power connector. This prevents any possible chance of burnout if your graphics card happens to draw more power because of overclocking or higher load.

See image. After checking all my cables again I found my pci-e cable was unplugged. I searched a bit on Google and I need to attach the Molex cable from the video card to the power supply, the problem is that all 3 Molex are used.
My question is:Do I need to get a power supply with more than 3 Molex or I didn't inserted the video card properly?
Time to get a new PSU. Why it just happens, had a weak components that gave up after some use. I think it's time for you to get a new PSU.
The PC was running fine for about two years, now we're buffing the worn-down parts. It's probably unable to push it's rated wattage, and the FX is one power hungry chip. The thing is that the card itself does not have a power cable to connect to. I'll be generous and say that's appropriate for a W power supply. Planning on building a computer but need some advice? The other is that the newly installed CPU cooler fan won't rev up. We also took the PC apart and back together a few days ago before the new parts for some reason and the re-installation of GPU and PSU cables was just fine.
Can plugging in speakers to the same surge protector the PC is connected to -- while running -- possibly damage components, specifically GPU? In this subreddit, we celebrate and promote the ultimate gaming and working … Judging by what you have said it sounds like your graphics card requires two pcie power connectors these can be 6 or 8 pin each, ensure you plug the appropriate cables into the slots. The 12V rail is rated for 16A, which is less than W.

I built a new computer with the help of a friend last night. What's on the USB? On a W power supply it's utterly laughable. It doesn't have the proper power connectors for your GPU and it doesn't have enough power to support it.
Why won't my PC turn on while gpu is connected? This only happens when a usb is in however, with mouse and keyboard I am always booted up to the default motherboard screen.

I had just finished my first build and was installing windows 10 through a usb today however every single time I plug in a usb my computer just says "Please Power down and connect PCIe power cable s.
Besides, I would definitely prefer not to run a graphics card on molex connectors. If after all that, and still no go, I recommend swapping that PSU.
